Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, Counselling Psychologist (UK) , and General Psychologist (Australia) based in Sydney (Edgecliff and Woollahra). I offer individual and relationship therapy and counselling. I also specialise in writing, workshop delivery and public speaking.

My name is Dr Julian-Pascal Saadi. I am an experienced psychologist and psychotherapist working with adolescents and adults based in Sydney. I offer therapy and counselling to clients in both Australia and the UK.

People go to therapy for many different reasons, often when life feels confusing, overwhelming, or painful. I work in a flexible and thoughtful way, drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches so that the work can be shaped around your particular needs. Sessions with me can be short- or long-term, depending on what you are hoping for and what feels most helpful.

A central part of my approach is creating a space where you can slow things down and begin to make sense of what is going on This often involves paying attention to emotional patterns that tend to not to be visible, kind of like looking at what's stirring the ocean when the waves are choppy. These psychological patterns tend to shape how we feel about ourselves and how we relate to others, in turn leading to distress. In individual therapy, this might mean exploring experiences that keep repeating or feel hard to shift. In relationship therapy, it often involves understanding the emotional dynamics that leave partners feeling stuck, despite their best attempts at doing things differently.

People come to see me for various reasons. Some of these include trauma, loss, grief, difficulties in relationships, family dynamics, feeling disconnected or misaligned, issues to do with sexuality or gender, struggling with intimacy, navigating infidelity, fertility/infertility, IVF, parenting, surrogacy, separation or divorce, or more generally trying to make sense of the impact of earlier life experiences. Others come with a knowledge that they repeat familiar patterns despite their best efforts to change.

I have particular experience working with the LGBTQIA+ community and intended parents (IPs) going through donor conception and surrogacy (international and domestic in Australia).

For a more detailed overview of the areas I work with, please see the Areas of Focus section.

The mind is like a house: it has a structure, it is decorated in particular ways and it is populated by different figures from the past. My approach aims to identify, explore and repair outdated internal structures, so that something new can emerge.
